Bunbury Village Day 2026 presents… Wild Bunbury
Celebrating the wildlife, countryside and community of Cheshire
On Saturday 13 June, the village will come alive with Wild Bunbury – a celebration of the incredible wildlife, countryside and community spirit that make Cheshire such a special place to live.
Building on the much-loved traditions of Bunbury Village Day, this year’s event adds a fresh and exciting nature-inspired theme.
Visitors can expect all the familiar highlights – the parade through the village, Rose Queen celebrations, an array of stalls, BBQ and Bar, live music, brass band, Morris dancers and family entertainment – alongside a host of wildlife experiences for all ages.
We’re delighted to welcome a growing number of fantastic organisations who will be bringing the “wild” to Bunbury:
Northwich Hedgehog Rescue will provide advice on how to support hedgehogs in our own gardens.
Gauntlet Birds of Prey will deliver breathtaking flying displays (with bird species to be revealed soon)
Cheshire Wildlife Trust will showcase their work protecting wildlife across the county, and how we can all play a part locally
The Creepy Crawly Show will introduce visitors to an amazing range of creatures including snakes, tarantulas, scorpions, lizards, giant African snails and even hissing cockroaches
Let’s Farm will share the inspiring work they do at their community farm supporting young people with learning disabilities
Mid-Cheshire Beekeepers Association will be offering insight into the fascinating world of beekeeping.

We’re also proud to celebrate contributions from within our own village:
- Bunbury Gardening Club will highlight local planting and wildlife-friendly gardening
- Bunbury Mill, our beautiful Grade II listed watermill, will be sharing information about the rich wildlife that surrounds it
- Sadlers Wells Community Woodland will be on hand to share how we can all enjoy and care for this ancient wood on the outskirts of our village.

And this is just the beginning – many more wildlife organisations and activities are still to be announced.
Wild Bunbury is not just about showcasing wildlife, but about bringing the community together – inspiring costumes for the parade, sparking creativity in decorations, and creating memorable, hands-on experiences throughout the day.
Whether you come for the tradition, the wildlife, or simply the atmosphere, Bunbury Village Day 2026 promises to be a fantastic day out for all ages.

Bunbury Village Day – what’s it all about?
Occasionally the BVD team are asked what is Bunbury Village Day all about and how does it work?…. are you a commercial organisation?…. what do you do with your profits?…. Well here are the answers to those questions and a few more besides!
In 1969 the ancient custom of “The Wakes” was reborn as Bunbury Village Day, so this year we are celebrating our 56th year!
The main focus of the day is to provide a great day for people of all ages in Bunbury and the surrounding villages.
The event is organised by a core team of volunteers (this year there are 12 of us) who meet throughout the year to come up with ideas and put them in place. On the weekend of the event, we are joined by many additional volunteers who help with all the practicalities such as putting marquees up (and down!), staffing the bar and BBQ, looking after the gate etc.

Sometimes after an event we find that we have a small profit (although it is not our aim to make one) and in past years we have used this to help fund all manner of things for the community including:
- providing tools for volunteers at Sadlers Wells Community Woodland
- maintaining the Village website
- buying a new bench for the “triangle” in front of the co-op
- helping fund the public access defibrillator at the Nags Head and replacement pads and batteries
- paying for a coach trip for the “Friday at Tilly’s Club”
- replacing the community noticeboard on the Village Hall
- painting the Pavilion at Bunbury Jubilee Playing Fields
So, we hope that has answered all your burning questions and that we are successful in delivering our central goal – to provide a great day out for the whole community!
